David arrived from Ireland at a young age 16-17 years, He arrived in New York Sept 1837 on Ship Robert Isaac. He married Charlotte Lewis 10 Jan. 1847. He worked in an iron foundry in Litchfield County in 1870. He held a occupation as a blacksmith during the war and thereafter.
Enlisted in Company A, 2nd CT Heavy Artillery Regiment from New Milford, on 30 December 1863. Wounded on 01 June 1864 at Cold Harbor, VA. David McBath's name is on the war Monument on the green in New Milford.
