PEORIA HEIGHTS, IL - Weldon F. Culler, 80, of Peoria Heights died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at Morton Villa Care Center in Morton, IL.

He was born Dec. 31, 1926, in Shelbyville, Mo., to Herschel and Lorena (Schnaufer) Culler. He married the former Joanne Eggestein on June 10, 1950, in Aurora, Ill. She survives.

He also is survived by two sons, Bruce (Susie) Culler of Peoria and Brian Culler of Peoria; a daughter, Joy (Alan) Culler-Harry of Silsbee, Texas; three grandchildren, Andrew (Katie), Jeffery (Ann) and Christopher Culler; and three great-grandchildren, Carissa, Alexander and Elliet Culler.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He resided in Peoria since 1949. He graduated from Hannibal High School in 1945.

He served in the United States Army during World War II in the 88th Division in Italy.

He worked in plant security at Caterpillar Inc. for 31 years, retiring March 28, 1980.

He attended Bethany Baptist Church and was a member of VFW Post 814, where he served as commander, and he also had served as commander for VFW Post 8662.

A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home, 428 W. McClure Ave., Peoria. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Springdale Mausoleum in Peoria, with full military rites accorded.

Memorials may be directed to Bethany Baptist Church or VFW Post 814.
