Mary Bernice Fitzgerald passed away on Saturday, December 19,2020 at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was born May 22,1940 in Winnfield, Louisiana to Woodrow and Vera Blackstock. She was a graduate of Winnfield Senior High School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas Milton Fitzgerald, sons Kerry Lee Fitzgerald and Thomas Kevin Fitzgerald and one grandchild Dugan Hood.
She is survived by one daughter, Deidre (Roy) Stapleton, three sons, Darren (Sandra) Fitzgerald, Damon (Linda) Fitzgerald, Kendall (Maria) Fitzgerald, and one daughter-in-law, Renee Fitzgerald. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Bernice, along with her husband Tom, owned and operated Fitzgerald's Exxon and Fitzgerald's Mobil for many years in Winnfield, Louisiana. Bernice played the piano in church and fulfilled the ever important role of pastor's wife at several churches in Winn and Caldwell Parishes. Bernice loved her family dearly and nothing made her happier than her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Corinth Tabernacle Cemetery with Rev. Darren Fitzgerald, Rev. Keith Fitzgerald and Rev. Bobby Beaubouef officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at Southern Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be Dewayne Fitzgerald, Hunter Fitzgerald, Heath Fitzgerald, Kerry Fitzgerald, Chris Barton, and Ryan Etheridge.
