Anna Lou (Perry) Caid passed from this life December 20, 2020 in Altus, Oklahoma at age 90.

She was born west of Granite, Oklahoma on September 7, 1930 to James B. Perry and Lettie Jewel (Allen) Perry. In her childhood years she lived in Duke, Oklahoma and then moved back to the Ozark area where she attended Ozark School until her Junior year when it consolidated with Granite School in 1947. In 1949, she graduated from Granite High School as Salutatorian of her class. Anna Lou loved playing basketball, riding horses with her siblings, racing barrels in rodeos and riding in the town’s parades. Anna Lou was her dad’s helper on the family farm where she bailed hay and ran combines. After high school, she attended Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma for one year and was selected cheerleader for the Bulldogs.

Anna Lou married her high school sweetheart, Dale Caid on December 23, 1950. They were blessed with two children, Skip and Sandy. She and Dale worked hand in hand over the course of 70 years hauling gravel, running their custom harvesting business, farming and ranching. Over the years she enjoyed much quality time with all of her grandchildren and many other family members as they worked on the harvest crew. Anna Lou was an excellent cook and developed a love of cooking and baking in her grandkids as she cooked for their harvest crew daily. Every day during harvest, with the help of Sandy and later Debra, she would send the crew off after a hearty breakfast and then pack-up and haul delicious lunches and dinners out to the field, for many years in the company’s beloved “weenie wagon.” In 1990, she took on an additional job as a cook at Granite Public Schools. For 10 years she blessed the students with many favorite meals like stew and cinnamon rolls, stromboli and okra and cowboy casserole. She and Dale loved to go bowling and square dancing together. Anna Lou would even hand make matching square-dance outfits for them to wear. Anna Lou especially enjoyed spending time with her family, attending her grandchildren’s sporting and agricultural events, trekking to Oklahoma City to watch Thunder games and taking bus trips across the country with the Clinton Jamboree Travelers. Anna Lou was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Granite. She served faithfully for many years on various committees, taught Sunday school, attended Falls Creek for many years to cook for the campers and even in the past year was still providing food and sharing the love of Jesus with students attending GROW after school. Anna Lou was an avid gardener and was well known for sharing the fruits (and vegetables) of her labor with many friends and neighbors.

Anna Lou is survived by her son Skip Caid and wife Debra, daughter Sandy Thornbrough and husband Roy; sisters Shirle Millstead and husband Chet, Nancy Warren and husband C.A. and sister-in-law Betty Perry; her grandchildren: Wendy Sites and husband Ryan, Mandy Jefferson and husband Alan, Cindy Rogers and husband Jeremy, Monty Thornbrough and wife Ashley, Matt Thornbrough and wife Ashley, Mark Thornbrough and wife Meredith and great-grandchildren: Rhett Sites, Caid and Kenlea Jefferson, Zane and Logan Rogers, Anna and Ander Thornbrough, Colt and Cannon Thornbrough, John Mark, Noah, Levi and Jacob Thornbrough, along with a host of other relatives, and friends.
