Graveside Services for Edna Heidebrecht, 98, Corn resident will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 22, 2020 in the Corn Mennonite Brethren Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Ken Gardner and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
Edna Lois Heidebrecht was born June 8, 1922 to Carl D. and Tena (Boese) Heidebrecht in Corn, OK and passed away early Saturday, December 19, 2020 in the Corn Heritage Village in Corn, OK.
She attended Corn Public Schools through high school. She then attended Southwestern State College in Weatherford, OK for two years and then began teaching elementary school. She later completed her courses and received her degree in elementary education.
She taught school in Delhi, Oklahoma, for two years, in Cutler,CA, for one year and in San Joaquin, CA, for five years. After returning to Corn, she worked at Corn Bible Academy for one year a cook and girls’ dorm co-matron, along with Bertha Pauls. She then moved to Wichita, Kansas, where she returned to teaching in the Wichita area schools. She was an elementary school teacher for about 25 years.
After retiring from teaching Edna worked as a nurse’s aide in a retirement home in Enid, Oklahoma for several years. She also worked as a nurse’s aide in the Corn Nursing Home (now Corn Heritage Village) after moving to Corn to live with her mother. She later became a resident of Corn Heritage Village.
She was a faithful and active member of the Corn Mennonite Brethren Church; loved to study the Bible and share God’s word and bring others closer to Christ; she had a great loved of music. She enjoyed playing the piano; she loved to sing and encouraged others to share their musical talents.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Allen and Harry; sister, Vera Deutschendorf Flaming, two brothers in law and two sisters in law and two nephews.
She is survived by brother John Heidebrecht and wife, Joyce, Walters, OK, Mary Ann Heinrichs and husband, Walter, Fresno, CA; sister in law, Dorothy Heidebrecht, Fresno, CA, and many nieces and nephews and friends.
