Abraham D. Balis, aged about 65 years, died at his home in Merrill on Monday.
Mr. Balis was a veteran of the Civil War and had a severe experience in one of
the Southern prisons, which debilitated his health and caused the palsied
condition from which he suffered for many years. He was one of the old
settlers of this county and had a legion of warm friends. His wife preceded him
into eternity, though he leaves a number of grown children.
