Dale L. Mitchell, age 58 of Grant Center, passed away unexpectedly Friday October 5, 2007. He was born May 13, 1949 in Big Rapids to Elwood and Doris (Rehkopf) Mitchell.
Dale graduated from Reed City High School in 1967. He married Vicki Mateman of Hersey on July 6, 1968. Together Dale and Vicki made their home in Grant Center, the third generation to live on the family farm. Dale always treasured the times he could spend outdoors. He was an avid hunter and he enjoyed fishing. Dale was currently employed at Big Rapids Components. He was a member of the Evart Moose Lodge and of the N.R.A.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vicki, 2 children; Peggy Sue Mitchell of Grand Rapids, David Eric Mitchell of Big Rapids Step-mother; Mary Jane Mitchell of Big Rapids, 2 brothers; Larry (Peggy) Mitchell of Big Rapids Gordon (Sue) Mitchell of Hawkins A sister; June Seath of Reed City Sisters-in-law; Cheryl Mateman of California, Linda (Larry) Leusby of Seney, Elaine (Glenn) Maguire of Hersey, and many nieces and nephews.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with burial at the Grant Center Cemetery. Visitations for family and friends will be Monday, Oct. 8th at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions in Dale's name may be made to the "Evart Moose Family Center" supporting various community services and events in Osceola and Mecosta Counties.
