Mary C. Markby, nee O'Neill, age 95, a resident of Glen Ellyn since 1949, passed away Friday, November 13, 2009, at Johnson Healthcare Center in Carol Stream. Mary was born September 15, 1914 in Chicago, IL to James J. and Mary J. (nee O'Kelly) O'Neill. Mary worked for Electrolux Sales & Service in Villa Park from 1974 2004 when she retired at the age of 90. She was a member of St. Petronille Catholic Church since 1949, enjoyed gardening, sewing and her home. She loved spoiling her grandchildren. She was the beloved wife of the late John Richard Markby; loving mother of Kathleen (late William) Hannah, Bonnie (John) Hanson, Maureen (Paul) Swiecicki, Susan Slocum & James (Maureen) Markby; dearest grandmother of Tracy & late Billy Hannah, John & Alan Swiecicki, Jill Webb, Katie Conrad, Ann & Wesley Slocum, Tara & Tricia Markby and 8 great-grandchildren; fond sister of Eileen Compton and the late Daniel O'Neill. Visitation was held Sunday, November 15th, 4-8pm at the Leonard Memorial Home of Glen Ellyn with a funeral mass Monday, November 16th at St. Petronille Catholic Church, Glen Ellyn. Interment St. Michael Cemetery, Wheaton. Memorials to St. Petronille Catholic Church, 420 Glenwood, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137 or Illinois Right to Life, 65 E.
