Lonnie Joel Montgomery, 85, of Piedmont, MO, passed away, Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Clarks Mountain Nursing Center. He was born October 10, 1930, to Robert F. Montgomery and Esther Martin Montgomery at Vulcan, MO. He grew up and attended school in Piedmont. Lonnie mowed yards in the community for many years. You could often find him walking town trading coins with local businesses to enhance his coin collection. He loved visiting the AARP building and McDonalds. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes and talking on his CB radio. Most of all, he loved his Church and family. Lonnie was a member of The First Church of the Nazarene, and was voted Piedmont citizen of the year in 2015. Lonnie is survived by; one sister Wilma Miller and her husband Ronald of Piedmont, one brother, Ronnie Montgomery of Bowling Green, KY, and two nieces Pamela Janecek, and Diane Foster. He is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Cleo Montgomery, Otis Montgomery, Guy Montgomery, Reggie Montgomery, Arlin Montgomery, and Vernon Montgomery; one sister, Janice Chiles; and one niece, Vicky Finnerty. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, MO. Funeral Services will be Sunday, June 12, 2016, 2:00 PM, also at the Piedmont Chalpel. Burial will be at Masonic Cemetery. Pastor Gary Rhodes and Pastor Ken Harper will minister to the family.
