Leland S. Abbey, 71, of Iowa, died Saturday, July 6, 1996 at Alegent Health, Mercy Hospital, Corning, IA. Born June 14, 1925 in Mt. Etna, IA, he was the son of the late John Hylton and Lillian Bell Abbey. He was a retired farmer, a member of the United Methodist church in Etna, IA and a veteran of World War II. Survivors include: his wife, Irene Abbey, Bridgewater, IA; three daughters, Mary Fisher, Red Oak, IA, Janet Ross, Clarinda, IA and Barbara Henry, Ogden, UT; one son, Richard Abbey, Harrodsburg; one brother, Keith Abbey of Trenton, MO; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services for Mr. Abbey were held Tuesday, July 9, at the Corn-Beaty Funeral Home, Corning, IA, with Rev. John Keller officiating. Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Mt. Etna, IA.
