Gene was born in Kooskia, ID March 5, 1926, one of six children. He graduated from Clarkston HS then joined the US Navy & was honorably discharged as Gunner's Mate Three after 23 months of service. He graduated from North Idaho College where he played four years on the football team. Then he went to WSU and earned a Masters Degree in Education.
He retired in 1983 after teaching science and math at Clarkston, Edmonds & Bellevue schools. He was additionally active in coaching a variety of sports during his career as an educator. After retiring, he & Evelyn moved to Camano Island, WA where he enjoyed a second career selling retirement investments & playing a considerable amount of golf in the community where they resided. He was an avid armchair football fan & lifelong Coug. He was an active 50-year member of the Masons, serving as the Past Master of the Edmonds Masonic Lodge.
The ever present twinkle in his eye continuously drew him to people, far and wide. He always brought enjoyable conversation with both friends & strangers throughout his life.
He is survived by daughter, Jan (husband Rowan) & son, Tim (wife Lisa), his siblings Irene (sister) & Ron (brother), and his four grandchildren.
Gene will rest at Tahoma National Cemetery with wife Evelyn.
