Obituary
Mary Jeanette Beach was born in Humphreysville, now Seymour, Connecticut, May 28, 1838, and departed this life at her home in New Boston Thursday morning May 2, 1918. With her parents, Hubbard and Hannah Beach, she came to New Boston in October, 1846, returning to Connecticut in May, 1849. They again came to New Boston in June, 1852. She was married to William Henry Dixon October 2, 1855, her pastor, Rev. C. Layenby, officiating. Four children were born to this union, Clarence Edgar, who died May 28, 1904; Frank Clifford, of New Boston; Sharon Hubbard, of New Boston; and Fred Vernon, of Iowa. Mrs. Dixon was left a widow July 4, 1905, but she was borne her great sorrow in a courageous manner. For some time, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Mead; her granddaughter and husband, have lived in her home with her. She was a mother to the grandchildren and, indeed, to all children, thus she maintained her youth. Her religous life began in the year 1854 when she was converted and joined the Methodist church under the labors of C. M. Wright. Thus 64 years of her life of 80 years was spent in the church. Is it any wonder that she loved the church? One by one the fathers and mothers are being taken from us, and soon those who have ministered to us and sustained the church will be gone. Mother Dixon will be missed, but she lived long and well. We close this brief on her life with one of the many clippings found in her Bible.

Asleep! We don't call the loved ones dead.
Her eyes are closed. The weary head is resting now.
From her dear brow
The light of heaven is shed.
She is not dead. She is not dead.
Why do you weep?
She is asleep.

Funeral services were held from the residence Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. O. E. Clapp, officiating. Internment was in New Boston cemetery.
