Donathan, William Louis; a lifelong resident of River Rouge; died peacefully at home on January 3, 2015; at age 75. Bill was born in River Rouge on January 1, 1940, to the late William and Madonna (Bodrie) Donathan. He graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes in 1959 and subsequently had a 37 year career with Great Lakes Steel retiring in 2001. Bill is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara (Flanery) Donathan; six children also survive him, William (Anita Hawthorne), Lori (Frank) Krupiski, Matthew, Kelli, Cassie (Lou) Arapakis, and Katie (Ricardo) Benavides. He leaves six sisters, Ann Franklin, Marilyn Hamel, Kathy (Daniel) Hayden, Martha (Steven) Burke, Elizabeth (Jerry) Cannon, and Jane (John) Babrick; and two brothers, Christopher (Renee) and Daniel. His seven grandchildren include, Daniel Kernan, Brandon Barrios, Alexis Donathan, Isabella Donathan, Jaiden and Julian Benavides, and Elias Arapakis. Visitation will be held at Voran Funeral Home, 23750 Goddard Rd., Taylor, Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 2 until 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will occur on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Andre’ Bessette Parish, 4250 W. Jefferson, Ecorse, MI with Visitation beginning at 10:30 am. Private Family Interment will take place at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Fife Lake, MI at a later date.
