Nelson Bailey, Sr., age 89, of Malvern passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Encore Nursing and Rehab. He was born August 2, 1931, in Malvern, the son of Lecil and Edith Wallis Bailey. Nelson is a retired Veteran of the United States Army, serving for 25 years. He is a Purple Heart recipient and served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the HSC Amateur Radio Club, Kiwanis Club, Disabled American Veterans Association, American Legion, HSC Republican Committee, HSC Sheriff Auxiliary Patrol, employed with the American Red Cross and constable for Fentor Township. Nelson also was an instructor at Ouachita Vo-Tech. He enjoyed fishing and politics. He was a member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Serena Bailey; son, Nelson Bailey, Jr.; brothers, Lecil Bailey, Jr. and Richard Bailey.

Survivors, sons, Dennis Bailey (Sara) of Malvern; daughters, Karin Grimes (Jerry) of Fort Smith and Lynn Davis (John) of Malvern; sister, Marcille Buckholz of Malvern; sister-in-law, Patsy Bailey of Malvern; grandchildren, Katherine Blackford (Evan), Phillip Davis (Tess), Paige Anderson (Shane), Jonathan Bailey (Samantha), Laura Emory (Trey), Jeremy Bailey (Morgan), Bethany Davis and Megan Bailey and eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
