Brenda Gail Valentine, 79, of Nashville, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, December 4th at her home in Nashville, North Carolina after a long battle with dementia. Born December 13, 1940 in Nash County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Linwood Pierce Robbins and Edith Denson Robbins. She married Retired Captain Foster Little, Jr. in August 1954 divorcing in 1976, then marrying Robert Bruce Valentine in 1976.

Early in her first marriage Brenda worked as a sales clerk at Montgomery Ward for a period of time then focused her attention on raising her four children. Later in life after her children had grown she partnered to open two picture framing businesses in Rocky Mount: The Picture Frame Shoppe and Nature's Own Gallery.

Brenda had a dog grooming business and also taught ballroom dancing to young people in her home. She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed painting and crafts, reading, listening to contemporary Christian music and watching the PBS cooking shows. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and other family.

Brenda is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Marci & Edward White, daughter Kandice Little Ondejko of Nashville, North Carolina, son and daughter-in-law Mark Travis & Anh Little of Sylmar, California, step daughter Robin & Dan McCarty of Pittsboro, North Carolina, brother Brian & Rhonda Robbins of Nashville, NC and brother Lynn and Janice Robbins of Nashville, NC, 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and her sister-cousin Patricia Montgomery of Wilson, NC and many other cousins, nephews and nieces whom she loved dearly.

Brenda is preceded in death by her husband Robert Bruce Valentine; daughter Andrea Little Streicher; sister Sandra Robbins Wells and brother Ronald Pierce Robbins.

An inurnment/service will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the UNC North Carolina Public Broadcasting.
