Jeanann Marie (Brambrink) Sluss, age 70, peacefully passed away on Dec. 3, 2020 at her home surrounded by family. A private mass for immediate family will be held at Transfiguration Catholic Church and she will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling. A larger celebration of life with family and friends is planned to be held on a later date.Jeanann was born June 16, 1950 in Rice, MN to Rueben and Eleanor (David) Brambrink. She married Robert Sluss on June 2, 1973 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Mayhew Lake. She grew up on a farm with her five siblings milking cows, picking rocks and baling hay. She graduated with a teaching degree from St. Cloud State University in 1972 and taught for six years before becoming a daycare provider. A lifelong learner, she earned a second degree at Metropolitan State University in 199? when she changed careers to be a bookkeeper. She enjoyed reading, going for walks with friends, playing golf, baking and volunteering at Transfiguration Catholic Church. More than anything, she loved her family. She was a compassionate sister, devoted wife, loving mom, amazing aunt, loyal friend and adoring grandma; the one who would get down and play whenever asked, and cheered the loudest during soccer and volleyball games. She always put everyone’s needs ahead of her own and was the first to offer help to anyone who needed it. Her final act was to donate her brain to ALS research to help find answers, treatments and hopefully a cure to the disease that weakened her body, but could not break her spirit. Jeanann had a zest for life, which she lived with positivity and grace until her very last breath.Survivors include her husband; children John Sluss and Jessica (Ken) Haider and granddaughters Katelyn and Alyssa Haider; brother David (Debbie) Brambrink and sisters Beverly (Duane) Schmidtbauer, Mary (David) Grundahl, Tereasa (Ben) Nies and Bonnie (John) Morey along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.Jeanann was preceded in death by her parents; sisters-in-law Kathy Brambrink, Paula Brambrink and Anna Huehn-Shaw.The family would like to extend a special thank you to M Health Fairview Neurology Clinic, Fairview Hospice, ALS Association – MN Chapter and Lifesprk Home Health for their care and support.Memorials are preferred to the ALS Association – MN Chapter.
