TEXARKANA - Billy Dan Robison, 83, of Dekalb, passed away on September 27, 2007, in Christus St. Michael Health Care Center in Texarkana.

He was born July 20, 1924, in Hugo, Oklahoma, to the parents of William H. and Ethel Robison. He was a member and past Sunday school superintendent and teacher of the Dalby Springs Methodist Church.

At the time of his military career, he served in the U.S. Army and later transferred to the U.S. Air Force with a total amount of 23 years of service. His declarations and citations include Purple Heart, Distinguished Unit Badge of Good Conduct Medal, Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Service Stars and Bronze Arrowhead Combat Infantryman Badge, Nation Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal with Silver Loop, Air Force Commendation Medal, The Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, and Certificate Award in Participation in the Presidential Inaugural Parade for President Dwight David Eisenhower. His overseas service includes South Pacific 1943-1945, Turkey 1952-1955, and France 1962-1965.

After retiring from the U.S. military, he retired from Day & Zimmerman and Lone Star Steel from the personnel department.

Mr. Robison was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Dortha Ruth.

He is survived by his wife of 61 and a half years, Norma Willene Robison of Dekalb; a son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Rhonda Robison of Tyler; and four daughters and sons-in-law, Norma Jean Robison of Texarkana, Carolyn and Randy Pirkey, and Debora and Jackie Ford, all of Dekalb, and Lisa and Ross Lennon of Avery. He is survived by 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:30-3 p.m. in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church in DeKalb. followed by the celebration of life at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2007, with the Rev. Tony Hoefner, Brother Jim Bracken and the Rev. Veronica Greanead officiating. Burial will be in Dalby Springs Cemetery of DeKalb, under the direction of East Funeral Home - Moores Lane.
