Mary Frances Ragsdale Mixon passed away November 18th, 2020, at 11:30 am. in Lubbock, TX, at the age of 89.

Memorial services are pending, to a future date, due to the coronavirus pandemic. Ashes will be interred in the Columbarium at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, Lubbock, Texas.

Born May 6, 1931, to the late Craig English Ragsdale and Daisy Belle (Byers) Ragsdale in Woodsboro, Texas, Mrs. Mixon grew up mostly in Texas, having lived in Woodsboro, Refugio, Beeville, Hebbronville, Kerrville, Port Lavaca, Corpus Christi, Falfurrias, Odessa, Houston, and Bay City, from where she graduated high school in 1948. Later, she lived in New Orleans, Louisiana, Denver, Grand Junction, and Pueblo, Colorado. She and her children moved to Lubbock on January 10, 1970.

Schools attended by Mrs. Mixon include Texas State College for Women (later Texas Women’s University), Southern Methodist University and South Plains College. She also completed courses at the Mary Beth McDonald School of Modeling, Houston, Texas, the Buddy Benz School of Floral Design, Houston, Texas, and Parks Business College in Denver, Colorado. Through the years, with her love for learning, she also took flying lessons, square dance lessons, an upholstery course, communication courses, more floral design courses, oil painting, and a digital camera course.

Retired from Texas Tech University after 22 years as an Administrative Secretary. Mrs. Mixon was a proud and devoted member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, and a member of the Episcopal Church Women. She enjoyed providing refreshments for the many church dinners and get-togethers. Mrs. Mixon had previously been a longtime member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church where she served on the Altar Guild, the Flower Committee, the Care Committee, the Special Events Committee and Refreshment Committee. She was also a member of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and the Texas Tech University Museum Association. She enjoyed sewing, decorating, reading, dancing, travel, art, jewelry making, cultural events, oil painting, playing Mah Jongg, and learning new things. Above all else, she enjoyed and loved her dear, sweet, and loving family, as well as her many wonderful friends.

Mrs. Mixon married Robert L. Perkins, February 3, 1953, in Denver, Colorado. She later married Ralph A. Mixon, November 23, 1980, in Lubbock, Texas. He proceeded her death, July 3, 1988. She was also proceeded in death by her father, December 23, 1966; her mother, February 28. 1988, and her sister Stanley Jean Ragsdale Bedur, April 4, 2001.

Mrs. Mixon is survived by a son, Craig Warren Carrillo-Perkins and husband Jorge Carrillo-Perkins, Kansas City, Missouri, daughters, Shannon Beth Perkins, Lubbock, Texas, and Shelley Jean (Perkins) Roberts and her husband, Timothy L. Roberts, Lockney, Texas; grandchildren, Jannette L. (Perkins) Beltran, Boerne, Texas, Christian K. Blair, Amarillo, Texas, Justin T. Roberts, Lubbock, Texas and Ashley N. Roberts, Los Angeles, California, Joanna F. M. and Joshua T. C. Magee, Lubbock, Texas. Great-grandchildren include Kayelynn E. Perkins, and Stephen W. Beltran; Great-great-grandchildren, Zoe L. W. Perkins, Ezra J. Garcia, Sara H. J. Garcia, and Zayden M. T. Beltran. Also survived by step-son Dean A. Mixon (wife Angelika), Costa Mesa, CA; step-daughter Linda (Mixon) Shires, Fort Worth, Texas and two step-grandchildren Michael T. Mixon (wife Jenee) and children Drew, Sydney, and Darcy, and their sons, Mathew, and Jacob, Irving, CA. She is survived by cousins, and many lifetime friends.
