HARRODSBURG - Jessie R. Dell Yates, 91, of Harrodsburg Route 3 died at 7: 14 a.m. Friday at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. Born Dec. 13, 1895, in Washington County, she was a daughter of the late Luther and Minerva Cox Darnell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Mercer County. She was the widow of William Thomas Yates.

Survivors include three sons, Harvey Yates of Lebanon, Joseph Yates of Orlando, Fla., and Kenneth Yates of Springfield; seven daughters, Nettie Lanham, Pearl Hawkins and Betty Royalty, all of Springfield, Vena Stine of Willisburg, Margaret Mercer of Shelbyville, Edna Wetherby of Fort Gaines, Ga., and Mary Mattingly of Louisville; two sisters, Madge Drury of Harrodsburg and Lydia Wilham of Indianapolis, Ind.; 33 grandchildren; and 32 News briefs great-grandchildren. One son, Tommy (Tim) Yates, preceded her in death.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, by Brad Johnson and Greg Bowen. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
