He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ola May Riley, three sisters, two brothers and his ex-wife, Peggy Riley.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on August 16, 1950 in Little Rock, AR and continued to serve until June 18, 1954. During this time of service a Korean Ribbon, United Nations Service Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. On Jun 5, 1955, he was united in marriage to Peggy Mitchell. He enjoyed watching westerns especially John Wayne, going to the Barber Shop and visiting with friends and playing cards with the ladies. He would walk 5 miles a day until he was no longer able. He loved watching the Cardinals play ball. He also loved spending time with his family ad friends.
He leaves the following to cherish his memory, three daughters, Lorrie (Kelly) Thomas of Hayti, MO, Lisa (Ron) Griffin of Caruthersville, MO and Kim (Tom) Schmit of Jackson, MO, his son, John Riley, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services were held December 3, 2020 at 1 p.m. at the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti, MO with Rev. Kenny Lee officiating. Burial with Military Honors was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chase Hopkins, Todd and Tyler Thomas and Rickey Riley.
