He served in the US Army during the Korean War. While in Korea he was a machine gunner where he was injured by a mortar round and lost his eye. He was awarded the purple heart and a lifetime member of the VFW in Raeford. Mr. White was active in and received a 25-year certificate as a member of the Red Spring Masonic Lodge 501, where he was awarded Mason of the year in 2004, was Past Master in 2009, and later joined the Raeford Masonic Lodge # 306.
He is survived by his wife Louise McDowell White of Raeford, a special stepdaughter, Gail M. Beasley (Larry) of Sanford, and stepdaughter Shirley Obenauf (Marv) of ID; a stepson Ray Quick (Frances) of Raeford.
A graveside memorial service with full military honors will be held 1:00pm Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Alloway Cemetery in Red Springs, NC.
