Funeral services were held at the Ross Funeral Home and at the Christian Church at Akrron. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery northwest of Akron.
When James was 5 years old he came to Union County with his parents, who homesteaded on a farm southwest of Chatsworth, which has ever since been his home. He taught one term of school at the Petry School, but the rest of his life was spent in farming.
He is survived by his siblings Charles, John, Elizabeth Oaks, and Rose Belwood.
