Julia's first husband, George W. Judson, died of consumption in 1875. They had two daughters, Jennie M. Judson, who raised by her grandparents in Michigan, and Ella Judson, who died at 16 months. Julia married Giles S. Congdon in 1877 and moved with him to California. Sadly, like her first husband, Julia suffered from consumption and it would soon cut short her life.
