It is with heavy hearts and complete heartbreak we announce that our family Matriarch left us Friday November 27, 2020. She was surrounded by her family as she left this world for the next. She is once again joined with her family that has passed and awaits us left behind. She leaves her family full of memories of family get-togethers, holidays & birthdays gathered at her house celebrating. She always let her family know how much she loved them and made sure we could all come and talk to her. She shared memories of her childhood with all of us. We knew so many people that had passed before because she kept them alive in her stories. Her brother Buddy died at 8 and the stories of him made us know him. Her sister Mary and her husband Adolph “Hack” died before her grandchildren were born but we all have known them through the stories. Her mother was the same way and always told stories of herself so we have known several generations from stories being told.

Dorothy Elizabeth Searles nee Gunn was born September 29, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY to Martin Patrick Gunn and Mary Agnes Jungclaus. She was the third child of five. She married Arthur Searles January 13, 1951 in Elkton, Maryland. They had 3 children. She leaves behind a daughter and a son, 7 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren . She leaves behind nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Mary Agnes Payne nee Jungclaus and Martin Patrick Gunn, step father Silas “Sammy” Payne siblings Mary, Buddy, Lilly, John and step brother Kenneth “Kenny” Payne, her son Eugene Searles and son in law Martin Hanson and nephew Kevin Gunn, brother in laws Adolph “Hack” Vogelbacher and Theodore “Ted” Kascik.
