Theresa was 11 yrs of age in the 1880 census in Township1, Contra Costa, California, with her parents Burkad and Lizzie Amend.
Her parents were born in Germany. Her father was enumerated as Purkad age 62, a farmer, and his wife Lizzie was 36 in 1880 and they had children Henry 13, Theresa 11, Jacob 7, Lizzie 3, and Mary 6 mos all born in California.
Her father died 5 yrs later from paralysis. He was a miner and died in Contra Costa County California (death record). The cemetery (St. Paul's) was closed, parts of which at two different times. Since then gravestones have turned up so it is notlikely the stones were all relocated. The original notation is that the remains from St. Paul's were brought to the cemetery built down the street, St. Joseph's. One of the other children was also buried in St. Joseph's.
In 1910 her mother Elizabeth lived in Township 10, Contral Costa, California with daughter Mary and family. Her mother was buried in Sunset View Cemetery with daughter Mary.
