Of Elgin, passed away, Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Corry Manor. He was born on November 18, 1924 in Union City, the son of Harold and Pearl Matthison Earll. He married Shirley A. Hall on April 10, 1958. She preceded him in death on March 5, 2019.

He was a 1943 graduate of Union City High School and was a US Postal Service carrier in the Union City Area for 41 years.

Arden served his country with the US Army 29th Infantry Division, 116th Regiment and received his first Purple Heart on June 6, 1944 on Omaha Beach. In addition to his Purple Heart, he also received an Oak Cluster for injuries received on December 24th, 1944, the Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars and 1 Bronze Arrowhead, the World War II Victory Medal and in 2015 was awarded the French Legion Medal of Honour in Conneaut, Ohio.

He was a lifetime member of both the Corry VFW Post 264 and the Union City American Legion Post 237, as well as member of the 29th Infantry Division Association.

Arden will be known as a great story teller and one who enjoyed a good conversation with anyone.

He is survived by one son, Scott C. Earll and his wife Paulette of Union City; two granddaughters, Lydia Earll of Erie and Leslie Burns and her husband Troy of Omaha, Nebraska; and a great granddaughter, Landry Burns.

In addition to his loving wife, Shirley; he was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marjorie Chaffee; and two brothers, Richard and Morris Earll.
