Johanna Ester (Fennie) Bischoff Sleight, 77, died Friday Aug 22, 1997 in Salt Lake City of natural causes.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug 26, in the Geneva LDS Ward Chapel. Burial Geneva Cemetery.
She was born Feb 2 , 1920 in Geneva ID to Edward and Johanna Blechart Bischoff. Her mother died during childbirth and she was raised by Pat and Amy Hillier Dewey. She married Doyle H. Sleight on Dec 28 1938 in Randolph, UT and the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake.LDS Temple on Dec 11, 1942. They had five children, Karen, D Wayne, Scott, Thomas, Pamela G. and R. Paul.
Jennie had a beautiful soprano voice and loved to sing. she participated in the Star Valley High School Opera and sang at various time throughout her life. She was a loving mother and wonderful friend to all she knew. she worked along side her husband in their General store in Geneva and was also the Geneva Postmaster for 34 years. She loved people and was involved in many ward and stake leadership callings as well as local activities. At the age of 66, Jennie completed and had published a book that she wrote on the Thomas Fork Valley. It was titled "Early Beginnings of Thomas Fork Valley".
Jennie is survived by her husband Doyle, four children, Karen Hayes of Denver, D. Wayne Sleight of Flagstaff AZ, Pamela Shipper of West Jordan, UT, Paul Sleight of Denver, 25 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son Scott Thomas, a brother Dean and two sisters, Violet and Annie. She will be dearly missed.
