GALENA, Kan. — Velma Lucil Hussong, 63, 1220 Princeton St., was pronounced dead on arrival at 1:10 p.m. Friday at Baxter Memorial Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack.
Mrs. Hussong was born May 2, 1923, in Galena, and was a lifetime resident of the town. She formerly was employed as a nurse’s aide at Quaker Hill Manor Nursing Home, Lowell, and at Baxter Memorial Hospital.
She married Elmer L. Hussong on Feb. 14, 1940, in Columbus. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Jerry Hussong, Galena route 2, and Howard Hussong, Galena; a daughter, Nancy Wilson, Neosho, Mo.; her mother, Ruby Hansbraugh, Galena; two brothers, Jack Chester, Kansas City, Mo., and Bob Chester, Manton, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Hillcrest Cemetery, Galena, with the Rev. Ernie Watson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena.
