She was the daughter of Jess and Bessie Martin Rector. In her early years, she was a telephone operator and worked in a munitions factory during World War II. Prior to moving to Kershaw in the 1960’s, she worked at the Joe Weatherly Stock Car Museum in Darlington, SC She and her late husband owned and operated the Western Auto Store in Kershaw for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she served in various capacities. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Charles Eugene "Gene" Lee; and two sisters, Lillian Rector and Catherine Foy. She is survived by her son, Michael Lee of Kershaw, and his former wife, Lynn; granddaughter, Jacqueline Augusta Lee of Columbia; sister, Billie Cober of Statesville, NC; and two nephews, Gary Rector and Randy Lee.
