A 1964 graduate of Smithville High School, Ron completed a year at The Ohio State University, a two~year program at Wooster Business College and earned a B.S. in Business Education at the University of Akron, Cum Laude. He worked at the Ohio Injector Company, Westinghouse Corporation, Shook Lumber Company, in farming and Kidron Body Company. After he completed his college degree at age 45, he taught computer applications at the Medina County Career Center for 13 years before retiring in 2006.
Ron enjoyed his family above all. He keenly observed the farm life in the area, enjoyed assisting and watching the Marshallville Antique Tractor Pulls and watching Nascar racing (always rooting for #48). He served as his church organist for many years. Even though he considered Wayne County "Civilization", he travelled through many states with his family. With his wife, he toured Hawaii, Mexico, England, France, Germany, and Austria. He especially enjoyed the furry kids who came into his life: Herbie, Blackie, Tambaqui, Magic, Killer, Harley, Turbo, Diesel, Maggie and Murphy.
He is survived by his wife of 54 ½ years; daughter Dr. Kelly (Mark) Low of Fort Myers, Florida; son and best friend Mark of Marshallville; grandsons Nikolas Vinhaes and Lucas (Kim Cole) Vinhaes; sister Barbara (Larry) Myers; and many nephews and nieces. Special persons in his extended family are Maria Marta (Jose) Bosio and family, Marcelo Baronheid and Romulo Vinhaes.
There will be no public service or calling hours per Ron's wishes. Private graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Marshallville. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
The family requests memorial donations be made in Ron's name to The American Lung Association Northeast Region, 6100 Rockside Woods Blvd, #260, Independence, OH, 44131-3241, Ohio's Hospice LifeCare 1900 Akron Road, Wooster, OH, 44691, and The American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15120, Chicago, ILL, 60693.
