Funeral services for CHARLES J. BOUCHET, one of the oldest attorneys in Baltimore and a former member of the Maryland Legislature, will be held at St. Ignatius Church. Services at the church, of which Mr. Bouchet was a lifelong member, will be preceded by prayers at his home, 206 East Biddle Street. Burial in New Cathedral Cemetery. He died yesterday at the Bon Secours Hospital.
Mr. Bouchet, who was 82, was one of the city's foremost baseball enthusiasts throughout his life and was honored in 1944 by Loyola College as one of its most distinguished and loyal alumni.
After his early education at Loyola High School, he graduated from Loyola College, then conducted in the rectory of St. Ignatius Church in 1887. He received his law degree at the University of Maryland Law School. He served in the Legislature from 1901 to1903. At commencement exercises at Loyola College in 1944, Mr. Bouchet was presented the Carroll gold medal by Governor O'Conor for his loyalty to the school from the time of his graduation.
From his early youth he was a baseball fan, rarely missing a home game since the Orioles won their first national pennant in 1894. He was an extensive traveler, making six trips to Europe. He was received twice in private audience at the Vatican by the late Pope Pius XI. He was a member of the University Club, the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Maryland Historical Society and the Baltimore and Maryland Bar Associations.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Daniel B. Chambers, Jr. and Mrs. Charlotte Bouchet.
