Rush Springs: Letty Lea Wallace, 101, passed away peacefully Monday, November 16, 2020 in Marlow.
Letty was born Wednesday, January 8, 1919 in Marlow, OK, to Ira Oscar and Lilly Florence (Hale) Acrey. She was a hometown girl, being raised on her parents' farm north of Marlow, and spent her whole life in the Marlow and Rush Springs area. She attended the Old Trail School with her siblings and had to make the trip on foot or horseback. In 1936 she married Buel Moore and had her only child, Larry, whom she later lost at the age of 13 to leukemia. She overcame her grief and married again to J. W. Taylor, a mayor of Marlow and owner of the City Cafe. She took an active role in the running of the restaurant after the death of J.W. She also was nurturing her niece Cynthia through the Marlow school system and on to OSU. Letty then met and married Wayne Wallace, owner of the Marlow downtown movie house. Again, as a business owner, she took an active role in supporting her husband. Letty took great joy in visiting with family, gardening, and traveling with her husband. After Wayne's passing, Letty continued to care for her niece and her aging mother. She became blind and entered Gregston's Nursing Care, where she was treated with love and much kindness. Letty dealt with much loss in her life and was ready to join her loved ones in heaven. Her family will miss her little giggles and caring concern, but take comfort knowing that she is made whole again in her God and savior, Jesus Christ.
Survivors include her brother, Ralston Irvin Acrey of Rush Springs, her niece, Cynthia Young of Louisiana, and cousin, Bonnie McCauley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Buel Moore, husband, J.W. Taylor, husband, Wayne Wallace, son, Larry Dean Moore, and sister, Sylvia Isabel Acrey.
