OBITUARY.
Our deceased sister who passed away so suddenly and unexpectedly, was Mrs. Iva Millbranth. Her maiden name was West and she was born Dec. 23, 1881, near Westville, Ind. Here she was brought up under the care of loving parents in the admonition and fear of the Lord.
On the 9th day of November, 1902, she was united in marriage to Mr. Gustav Millbranth. Three children, two daughters and one son, blessed this union; one of the little ones died in infancy.
Our sister, Mrs. Millbranth, was a kind and loving mother to her children and a faithful wife to her husband. Most of their time they have lived on the farm, a number of years near LaCrosse and for the past two years on a farm north of this place. She fulfilled the duties of life faithfully.
About three years ago Mrs. Millbranth sometimes began to complain about pains and weakness of her body, but neither she nor any of her family thought that she was really a very sick person, especially as she was continuing to do her daily work. She was suffering from leakage of the heart and dropsy. But only until three weeks ago her condition seemed to take a turn for the worse, though she was up and around all the time and was able to come to town. Last Friday she felt so feeble that she did not get up but stayed in bed. Her husband and relatives were with her, but hardly anyone expected her end so near. Only a short time before she passed away she said: "I know my end is near; I cannot live until tomorrow. I am prepared to leave this world, but oh: my poor children!" Good mother! Full of love for the children is a mother's heart! But we have the promise: "Father and mother forsake me, but the Lord taketh me up." Our Heavenly Father graciously looks down upon this grief-stricken and the children and through his beloved son and our Saviour tells and comforts us: "Behold, I am with you as even unto the end of the world."
Saturday, at 12:00 p.m., Mrs. Gustav Millbranth died. The days of her pilgrimage were 35 years, 4 months and 19 days.
Mrs. Millbranth, our deceased sister, has since her marriage, been connected with our German Evangelical Salem church, was baptized several years ago and has been a member of our Ladies' Aid Society.
The following persons who mourn her early departure are: the husband, Mr. Gustav Millbranth, the children, Iver and June Millbranth; 2 brothers and one sister, namely: Leonard and Iver West and Mrs. Lillian McCullom; an uncle, Mr. Allard Gardner; three cousins: Mrs. Lottie Ressler, of Oklahoma, Miss Willo Gardner, of this place, and Mr. Floyd Fryar, of East Chicago, besides other relatives and a large circle of friends. They that sow in tears, shall reap in joy.
