Dad spoke highly of his family, times during the Boy Scouts, fishing, hunting, enjoying the family pets, working on cars and playing basketball.
He graduated from Lincoln High School before joining the US Navy for 4 years. He served in Vietnam and was also stationed in Key West, Florida. He also served one year in the Army Reserves and multiple years in the Navy Reserves. I have many memories of him leaving for his "2 weeks" each year and his anticipated return when he would always be the bearer of gifts to all of us. I still cherish the gifts of earrings and flower vases which he brought me.
He was a Basketball Coach and the Athletic Director for St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. He also served one year as the League Athletic Director for the Catholic Schools of Lincoln. As a day job, he worked at the Goodyear plant for 30+ years as a Pipe Fitter. Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing and was also a member of the Cornhusker Fly Fishermen's Club since the 1970's when it was just in its infancy, and was very proud of that fact. He especially enjoyed young children and teaching them how to fish, cast and even tie flies for fly fishing. He taught his children many life skills they both use on a regular basis.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by 2 younger brothers, his wife, 2 children and one grandchild.
