BOSSIER CITY, LA - Florence Macaluso, 93, passed away on March 23, 2009 following a lengthy illness. She was born on March 2, 1916 to Joseph and Flavia Macaluso, in Bossier City, LA. She was a 1933 graduate of Bossier City High School, and was the last survivor of her class. As a child, Miss Macaluso worked on the family farm, and as an adult she worked with her sister, Josephine at White's Cleaners. She lived in the family home for 83 years, and then moved into a senior complex where she spent her later years. Most recently, she resided at Colonial Oaks Nursing Home in Bossier City.
Florence was Catholic, and for many years she was a volunteer worker at Christ the King Church. She also made many personal sacrifices over the years to care for several ailing family members.
Her Parents, Flavia and Joseph Macaluso, brothers, Nace, Charles, and Roy Macaluso, and her sisters, Mary Maggio, Josephine Macaluso and Genevieve Dino, preceded Florence in death. Her sister, Angela Smith, as well as many nieces and nephews survive her.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. till 10:30 a.m. Friday March 27, 2009. At her request, graveside services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2009 at St. Joseph Cemetery on Greenwood Road. Father Charles Glorioso will officiate.
