Cecil W. "Buff" Banks, Sr., 80, 680 Harrison Avenue., died Monday, May 25, 1987, at his residence in Peru Indiana. He was found at 6:00 a.m.. He had been despondent over recent medical issues.
He was born June 9, 1906 (this is wrong in the obituary...it was actally 1903), in Fulton County, Indiana to Sidney and Nora Collins Banks.
In 1922, he married Lola Townsend. She died February 15, 1973. To their Union, they had three children: Lewis "Tag" W. Banks (1922-1984), Cecil W. Banks., Jr. (1924-2010), and Betty M. Banks Ramer (1926-2008).
He was the proud owner of his own painting company, Cecil Banks Contracting, which was located in Peru.
Surviving are a son, Cecil of Peru; a daughter, Betty Ramer of Peru; five grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. One son and one grandchild are deceased.
Private services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, the Rev. Lowell Burris officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Miami County Cancer Society.
He was cremated by the Hoosier Crematory In Akron, Indiana. Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangement. His ashes were buried in same plot as his father. He shares a gravestone with his father, Sidney Banks, at the Mount Hope Cemetery. The date of birth (1906) in the obituary is incorrect.
