"Adam B. Engell, an old and respected resident, passed away at his home at Engellville, April 5th. He had been in failing health for some years. However, when the 'gleaner' comes the stroke is a heavy one. His passing was near the place of his birth at Sharon, and with the exception of a short period, his entire life was passed in that locality. Mr. Engell was a miller by profession having assisted in the mill from early childhood. It was the business of his grandfather and uncle, who passed away many years ago. His father rebuilt the mill and Mr. Engell continued running it until failing health prevented. Mr. Engell was a man of good reputation and was known over an extended territory. Mr. Engell was twice married. His first wife was Charlotte Engell, daughter of the late Philip Engell. From this marriage one child was added to the union, who passed away some years ago. The second marriage was in 1898 to Anna Race, daughter of the late Casper Race, who survives him. The funeral services were held at the Sharon Reformed church, Rev. C. W. Smith, assisted by the Masonic order, of which Mr. Engell was a member, officiating. Interment was made at Slate Hill. He is survived by his wife, two brothers, Dow and DeWitt Engell, and several nephews and nieces. Those in attendance at the funeral were: Mrs. Ada Engell with her daughter, Laura and husband and son Homer and wife, of Mohawk, and Mrs. Blanche Terrell."
