Nellie was the daughter of Old Spotted Eagle and was born around 1863 near Birch Creek in what is today the Blackfeet Reservation in Montana. In 1889, Montana became a state, and in 1894, the Blackfeet Agency moved to Browning. She first married Edward Running Crane, and together they had a sheep and cattle running business in Big Badger Creek until 1928. She later married Joe Bullshoe, who preceded her in death. She allegedly was at least 117 years old at the time of her death, making her one of the oldest-known people in the world, although this has not been officially confirmed.
