Mr. Luther Alonzo Cook, age 91, of Blue Ridge passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2009 in the Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper, GA. Mr. Cook was born in Fannin County, GA on December 10, 1917 to the late William D. Cook and Oda Sisson Cook. He worked as a boiler maker in Salvage for Tennessee Copper Company and Cities Service Company. He was a member and deacon of Mobile Baptist Church. Mr. Cook was a veteran of the United States Army serving in two major campaigns: France and the European Theatre Operation. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Lewis Cook.

He is survived by a son, William Cook of Chattanooga, TN; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Bill Parr of the Sugar Creek community of Blue Ridge and Peggy C. and Terry Wilson of Morganton; a brother, William D. Cook of Mineral Bluff, GA; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, October 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Bill Johnson, Rev. Matthew McDaniel and Rev. Paul Adams officiating. Music was by Calla Mae Miller and Tammy Hall. Pallbearers were Doug Cook, Wayne Harper, Terry Cook, Warren Cook, James Patterson, Allen King, and Glen Lewis. Honorary pallbearers were Isiah Patterson and Justin Patterson. Interment followed in Copper Ridge Memory Garden with full military honors by North Georgia Honor Guard.
