They were parents of three sons: Henry Albertis, who first married Lillian Chesebro, and after her death Miriam Montgomery; Lemuel Orange, husband of Ila G. Emmerson; and Glen LaVerne Burchfield whose wife was Sara Hazel Walden. They also cared for Emma's sisters' motherless children, Ozeta's daughter Anna Evans, and Tessie's son Floyd Martin and later for their son Henry's children Elizabeth and Henrietta Burchfield after their mother's death. At the same time, they were also caretakers for Emma's parents who lived first next door and then in the Burchfield home.
