Obituary

Jim passed away in Owasso, Oklahoma surrounded by family on Nov. 5th, 2020. He was 84.

Jim was born in Hominy, Oklahoma on April 28, 1936, to Oliver and Ethel Blue. He grew up with eight siblings. After graduating from High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and after four years was honorably discharged.

Shortly after he enrolled in barber school and there the legend began. Jim barbered for over 60 years and all at the same location at 11th and Pittsburg in Tulsa. He also was a Master Mason and just recently received his 50-year pin. Jim also served as “Rainbow Dad” with the Mark Sexton Rainbow Assembly for 10 years. Jim married the love of his life, Shirley Gail Carothers on December 3, 1960, at Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Shirley preceded hin in death on November 20, 2014.

He is survived by his two daughters: Renee, wife of Paul Daniel, of Owasso, OK; Stacie, wife of Dave Prater, of Skiatook, OK; a son: Mike, husband of Samantha Blue, of Claremore, OK; Jim is also survived by 8 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren, along with other family members, friends and acquaintances.

Jim’s biggest joys in life were being a husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Not only for his family but for their friends along with being the dad for so many young girls when he served as Rainbow Dad.

He never met a stranger and treated everyone with respect and kindness. He generally LOVED people. His sense of humor and infectious laugh brought so many smiles to all that came in contact with him.

He had many words of wisdom. One being, “Remember kill the mean one’s with kindness”.

He would always end conversations with Love you dearly, you’re a blessing and be blessed.

He will be missed tremendously.
