B. F. PING

B. F. Ping, 63, died Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at his home on East A street. He was a resident of Picher for the last 18 years and is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Audrey Ward, Mrs. Marcel Frazer of Redcliff, Cal., and Mrs. Ellen Rumbley of Ponca City, Okla.; two sons, Clifford of Minton, Cal., and George of Noel, Mo.; and three sisters, Mrs. Ollie Anderson and Mrs. Lindy Sex of Joplin and Mrs. Stella Dowe of Pontiac, Mich. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 o'clock at the First Baptist church, with the Rev. C. E. Bergen officiating. Burial will be at Galena, Kas., under direction of the Durnil funeral home.

Funeral services for B. F. Ping who died Wednesday afternoon at his home in Picher, have been changed to Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the First Baptist church with the Rev. C. E. Bergen officiating. Burial will be at Galena under direction of the Durnil Funeral home.


Because of errors in the list of survivors as first printed, they are again listed here: Three daughters, Mrs. Audrey Ward of Picher, Mrs. Marvel Frazer of Redcliff, Cal., and Mrs. Ellen Rumery of Ponca City, Okla.; three sons, Clifford Ping and Minton Ping, both of Colorado, and George Ping of Noel, Mo.; and three sisters, Mrs. Ollie Anderson of Joplin, Mrs. Lindy Sex of Joplin and Mrs. Stella Lowe of Pontiac, Mich.

His first marriage was to Grace Davis on 18 Mar 1894, in Cherokee County. Grace died in 1903.

"Mrs. Grace Ping, wife of Frank Ping, died at 11:45 p. m. yesterday at her home on the Battlefield ground. The funeral will be held tomorrow at 2 p. m. A sister of Mrs. Ping, Mrs. Carney, died a short time ago." The Galena Evening Times, Galena, Kansas, 19 Feb 1903, Thursday, Page 3.

With Grace, he had 3 children: Clifford, Audrey, and George.


His second marriage was to Mrs. Della Rentfrow on 19 Jan 1922, in Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri. It was not a first marriage for either of them. Della's maiden name was Galloway, and she was first married to Clarence E Rentfrow.


In 1930, when in Picher, his wife was Ollie, born about 1879 in Arkansas. She was shown as a widow in Ottawa County in 1940, also born in Arkansas, born about 1877. This was Ollie Little, who was first married to James Thomas Howard, and after her marriage to Ping, she then married Marshall Washington Blankenship.


Note re: memorial

It is possible that this is a duplicate of memorial 174437861. Although his obituary is definite as to burial in Galena, the original memorial in the GAR cemetery in Miami has a specific plot location. ~~mjp~~
