Allen E. Adams, age 82 of Shawano, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2007 at a local nursing home. Allen was born on February 10, 1925 in the Town of Pella, son of the late Edwin and Madglena (Sousek) Adams. In October of 1943 Allen enlisted with the United States Navy and served until 1946. On June 18, 1949 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Schultz in Leopolis. Allen farmed in the Town of Pella until retiring in 1990 and later moving to Shawano. Allen was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Caroline where he was a past treasurer, on the council, past secretary and an elder. Allen was also a member of the Caroline American Legion Post #456 and the Town Clerk of Pella for 33 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and reading.
Allen is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Charlotte; his daughter, Diane (Steven) Dahms of Appleton; 2 grandchildren, Erin (Josh) Short of Pacific Grove, CA, Erik (Adrianne) Dahms of Hampton, VA; and 1 great-grandson, Zack. Allen is further survived by: 1 brother, Robert (Margaret) Adams of Pella; 1 sister, Elaine (Felix) Zalewski of Mosinee; 1 sister-in-law, Dessie Adams of Plymouth; and many nieces and nephews.
Allen was preceded in death by: his parents; and 1 brother, Oren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, October 1, 2007 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Caroline with the Rev. William J. Schruba officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the Town of Grant. Family and friends may call at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Sunday from 4 until 8pm and at the church on Monday after 10am until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established in Allen's name.
