He was born in Pittston, ME,USA and died in Portland, NB,CAN.

The death is announced of Richard CALVERT, one of the oldest residents of Saint John. Mr. Calvert, who was in his 75th year, was the son of Richard Calvert, one of the early settlers of Saint John and did a large crockery business on Dock St. for many years. On the death of his father, Richard, jr. succeeded to the crockery business but retired long ago, since which time he has not been actively employed. He was married, but his wife died some years since. There were seven children, one of whom married John SWEET from whose residence the funeral services will be held. Mr. Calvert was one of the oldest members of St. John's Masonic Lodge and was the first Mason made in this lodge under the English warrant, which was received in 1835.

One of their sons, Thomas born in 1800, died on the Oregon Trail in 1864. He married Mary Maria Thomas in St. John on May 24, 1821. You will find a son of Thomas and Mary, George Calvert, at Memorial # 1395345. Their progeny are linked to that memorial. All are descendants of this Richard Calvert and his wife, Abigail Bodge Calvert.
