CHURCH HILL - Eldridge Arnold, 77, born August 1, 1924 in Hawkins County, Tennessee and departed this life for his heavenly home on (June 4, 2002) at 3:00 P. M. at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital & Medical Center.
Mr. Arnold was a member of McPheeter's Bend Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher and deacon. He was an honorary member of the McPheeter's Bend Ruritan. He enjoyed gardening and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bertha Skelton Arnold, five brothers, Winifred, Kelly, Claude, Neal and Floyd Arnold, two sisters, Minnie Smith and Betty Collins.
He is survived by his wife of 55 1/2 years, Lorene Simpson Arnold, Church Hill; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherlene and Gary Musick, Annie and Randy Treadway, both of Church Hill; four sons and daughters-in-law, Herbert and Teresa Arnold, Lester & Paula Arnold, Garland and Kathy Arnold, and David and Dawn Arnold, all of Church Hill; six grandchildren, Jason Arnold, Suzanne Arnold, Justin Ryans, Preston Ryans, Seth Arnold, and Isaac Arnold; six step grandchildren and one special step great grandchild, Michael Begley; one brother, Alfred Paul Arnold; one sister and special brother-in-law, Lucille and Harry Kincheloe; special brothers-in-Christ, Mr. Carl Smith and Mr. Ray Marshall.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted Thursday at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ron Grimes and the Rev. Fain Arnold officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at McPheeters Bend Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be F. D. Derrick, Willard Ryans, Gary Connell, Donald Dobbs, J. S. Arnold and Jim Smith.
