Dorothy Jeanine Sanders, 82, of Columbia passed away on Nov. 1, 2020, at The Arbors at Colony Pointe.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, in Memorial Park Cemetery, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Friends are invited to join a virtual service via Facebook Live by visiting www.memorialfuneralhomecolumbia.com and selecting the "view livestream" tab under Services at the time of the service. If you are unable to view the event live, it will be available for replay on the Memorial Funeral Home, Crematory & Memorial Park Cemetery/Columbia Facebook page after the service ends.

She was born on March 30, 1938, in Colfax, Illinois, the daughter of the late Ralph and Hazel Hinrichsen. She was united in marriage to Milton Sanders on October 21, 1956, in Anchor, Illinois.

Prior to her marriage, Dorothy was a dance instructor at Arthur Murray Studios in Bloomington, Illinois. Dorothy and Milton moved from central Illinois to the Columbia area soon after their marriage, where they raised two sons and two daughters. Dorothy provided child care in their Columbia home for many years and enjoyed gardening, walking and touring the North American continent in an RV.

Dorothy is survived by two siblings: Connie Peters of Gibson City, Illinois, and Randy Hinrichsen of Colfax, Illinois; her husband Milt; four children: Brian and Loretta (Sapp) Sanders of Columbia, Bruce Sanders of Columbia, Connie and Clint Crane of Columbia and Donna and Marty Dailey of Fairgrove, Missouri; nine grandchildren: Jeff, Tim, Alicia, Cassandra, Kaylyn, Zachary, Shelby, Brittany and Bradley; and two great-grandchildren: Maisie and Jack.

Dorothy was preceded in death by siblings Doris Ann Hyatt and Gerald Hinrichsen and a grandchild, Robert Sanders.
