Simon Jahner, 95, Dickinson, died on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Sanford on Broadway, Fargo. There will be a private Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., Friday, November 6, 2020 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Msgr. Thomas Richter as celebrant. Entombment will follow at the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

Simon Jahner was born July 1, 1925, Hettinger County in a stone house in the St. Michael’s community, the son of Mike P. and Margaret (Wandler) Jahner. When I was 12 years old we moved on to the Graeber Farm which we farmed until 1951 when my parents moved into Dickinson.

Simon married Bertha Degele on October 23, 1951 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson. We lived on the Lloyd Miller Farm raising five children. In 1963 we bought the Jacob Kuntz Farm and had two more children, farming there until moving into Dickinson in 2010.

He belonged to St. Pius Verein, St. Anthony Club, Eagles Club, KC Club, John Deere Club, and Pheasants Forever. He enjoyed hunting, restoring old John Deere tractors, collecting old pickups, John Deere toy tractors, John Deere pocket watches, and also enjoyed traveling and dancing.

He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy; sons-in-law, Clay Morris and Gary Pachl; daughter-in-law, Lauren Jahner; grandson, Ryan Cain; siblings, George Jahner, Pauline (Christ) Frank, Leontin Braun; sisters-in-law, Rose and Sally Jahner; and brother-in-law, Don Franchuk.
