James was born in Moline, Texas on March 19, 1930 to Henry and Lillie Mae (Banta).
James attended school in San Saba, Texas and graduated in 1949.
He attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas for 2 years before he was drafted into the service. He was deployed in the 1st airway division of the Marines.
James spent most of his time on an aircraft carrier in the Korean peninsula.
James returned home after his service in the Marine Corps, and worked for the Texas Department of Public Safety Drivers License Division in Uvalde, Texas.
James came to live in San Saba, Texas where his sister and her family had settled.
James had a love for art work. He spent hours coloring pictures with felt tip markers.
He also liked to watch the History Channel and loved a good rib-eye steak.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are a niece; Janice Bates and family of San Saba, Texas and nephew; Ray Dale Wilder and wife Trish and family of Kyle, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister; Wilma Wilder and husband Jack and one nephew; James Warren Wilder.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, November 6, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Harris Cemetery in San Saba, Texas.
