Arthur Moody Bissett, 96 yrs. old, a Polk County agriculturist died Tuesday, September 25, 2007 of cancer at his home in Winter Haven, FL surrounded by his friends and family. He was born in Old Port Tampa on July 18, 1911. He is a graduate of the University of Florida where he was active in the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. He continued his involvement with the fraternity over the years, serving on the alumni board and eduation foundation. In 2006, he was selected by the National AGR Fraternity as a Brother of the Century. While at the University, he was also active in the honorary fraternity, Alpha Zeta. He has served as State Director of the U.S. Farmer's Home Association, on the U.S. Soil Conservation Board and Assistant County Agent for Polk County. He was a founder and director of the Polk County 4-H Club Program and the Polk County Youth Fair. He was Land and Agricultural Manager for the Stuart Brothers Corporation in Bartow, FL. He was the first field representative for Florida Citrus Mutual and was a life long citrus and cattle producer. Mr. Bissett was a member and past president of the Polk County Farm Bureau, and an inductee of the Florida 4-H Hall of Fame. He served as Executive Secretary of the Polk County Taxpayers League and a member of the county historical society. He was a charter member and leader of the Covenant Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven.

He is survived by sons Glenn Bissett (Marjorie), Raymond Bissett and daughter JoAnn Knapek (Bob); 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Services will be held September 28, 2007 at Covenant Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. and internment to follow at Lakeside Memorial Park, Winter Haven, FL.
