Abby's death record gives her father as Wellington Ayer, which is incorrect. Wellington Ayer was an in-law of hers, being the father of her nephew Manly's wife, Louisa. They all lived in the Pawtucket area. Wellington Ayer did not have any children named Abby or Abigail.

Abby Emerson's middle name was Ayer for her maternal grandmother, Dorothy Ayer.
